The Body is craving for pleasures from food, the logic calculates why it should restrict them, the willpower enforces the logically calculated steps, few weeks later – the harmful excessive weight is gone. The willpower gets tired and takes a rest, the Body takes over again – the weight is regained again. Doesn’t it sound like a familiar situation? Does our fight with obesity depend exclusively on our willpower? Our Body cravings are actually our subconscious automatic urges controlled by our subconscious mind. The permanent fix is in the fix of our subconscious associations. Can we change them? Can we change the mysterious “body mass setpoint”? Can our body subconsciously crave for a healthy weight without interference from our logic? I look at our Body and Mind relationships as a dog owner and a puppy. Most of the time the Body (or the puppy) does what it likes, every once in a while the Mind (the dog owner) interferes and guides the Body (the little puppy) what to do. But as soon as our Mind (the dog owner) turns away – the Body (the puppy) does what it likes. The idea is – we can use our Mind to train our Body to do how we want it to behave, not just instruct its every step, just like the dog owner can train its puppy to do behave the way he wants it to behave instead of controlling every single step. All our subconscious associations are acquired and we can change them and train them to meet our needs.
