Eat like this is the last meal of your life, appreciate your food like it is the most delicious and unique and the most expensive meal in the whole world. Trick number one – slow down. Designate a special time for eating. Think about that – eating is one of the few rare moments that we are physically, materialistically relate with the actual world, we actually make a fragment of the outside world to become a part of our body. It is and it should always be a sacred moment in our life. We should really consider what should we chose to become a part of OURSELF. Use all of your sensors to evaluate the food first – see it, smell it, touch it, may be even hear it. When it is a time to a sacred ritual of meal – small bites. Pay attention as you put the food in your mouth – do you feel that you have stuffed your mouth fool so you have most of the food between your cheeks and teeth and only a small portion is on top of your tongue where you can actually appreciate it? Shouldn’t it be a small bite, may be a size of a marble, so you can appreciate the whole portion with your mouth. How does it feel. What is the taste like? What is the temperature? What is the structure – is it soft, chewy or crunchy? Is it moist or dry? Chew it slowly, may be in the beginning consider even count of chewings per bite, may be like 30-33… Move the food around your mouth, appreciate how the root of the tongue has different taste buds compared to the tip… Every time you eat – ask yourself – “do I eat mindfully? Do I enjoy the food to a whole extent? Do I eat like this is my very first and very last time I have this food?”….
