Food is obviously supposed to deliver to our body energy and nutrients. For many of us that are heavier than we should be, the important role of food that we often ignore is satiety. I think satiety depends on many factors – volume, texture, chemical composition, taste and smell. We, humans, are not machines, we are creatures with mind, soul, thoughts, dreams, imaginations. I think food for us is not just a physical, mechanical, chemical or structural. Food also brings some other energy – like thoughts about food, appreciation of the food, effect of food on our internal spiritual balance. We may ignore the spiritual perception of food altogether, like we routinely do most of the time, or we can enrich our eating experience with our imagination, and I think it might even help us to have more satiety from smaller portion. Look at every meal as unique, one in a lifetime experience. Imagine that you are in the best cook competition and you are awarded to taste the product of the best chief prepared from the best ingredients. Even if you have a simple fish on your table – imagine how it was swimming free in the open ocean, how the brave fisherman skillfully caught it, how it ended up on the market at 4 am and how the restaurant representative had a winning bid to buy it, how it was driven, how it was cleaned, how the cook used his special skills to prepare it for you… The nations that appreciate food the most usually stay slim, think about Japanese or French cousine and traditions…
