Many studies on former “weight losers” have demonstrated a significant decline in the basal metabolic rate after calorie deprivation. It was found that this slow down has persisted for many years, and possibly even indefinitely despite the restoration of the usual caloric intake. So, my question – is it a bad thing? There are have been many studies that have suggested that some calorie restriction on intermittent basis could be a key to longevity. If the body slows down, wouldn’t it wear down slower as well? Wouldn’t it be turned in a 200 years turtle? Why efficient cars are good and efficient body is not? What do you think?
